AR no aratana kanōsei A new possibility of AR

The use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology for automotive/electric components industry has been in the early phase. However, it is gradually transforming to the technology that is on a par with the mainly-used technologies. According to Harvard Business Review in January-February 2018, two-dimensional information is feasible to be transformed to three-dimensional information utilizing the advantage of AR and directly display the information to an actual object in the real world, which means that it no longer requires you to change the two dimensional information to the three dimensional one in your head. For instance, turn-by-turn navigation is possible to be directly displayed on windshields in connection with car navigation system, thereby possibly reducing traffic accidents due to minimizing the driver’s eye movements. Furthermore, AR could be “a new interface between users and machinery”. Machinery has been operated by using touchscreens, switches, etc thus far. Nonetheless, by utilizing AR, digital control panels are possible to be displayed in front of users, and they can operate machinery with it. It implicates that the physical touch screens and switches would be unnecessary down the road, which will make a strong impact on electric components industry.
